Best purchase of the year!!
I originally bought a Mel science subscription for my 14 year old daughter. She is homeschooled and has ADHD and Dyslexia. I wanted a fun hands on component to add to her chemistry curriculum. I had heard that each kit contains enough to perform the experiment twice ,so I had hoped that her younger siblings could also benefit by using the same kit. When it arrived and we began to use the kit we had a sibling clash between 10 yr old dd and 14 year old dd, and I ordered another subscription. We are 4 months into using the kits and I am so happy that I ordered them. I homeschool six kids from 4-14 and they all love them. Obviously, my younger children take on smaller jobs and mostly observe. The experiments have all worked with amazing results!! My children are learning about chemistry in an organic hands on way. Many times I order something for our school and I feel like I wasted my money, but Mel Chemistry was worth every penny!!! There is a huge variety of experiments and you work with many different kinds of chemicals. Also, they definitely give you enough supplies to complete the experiments twice and sometimes even more.The VR is definitely cool too!!!!! I can’t say enough!!!
Aankoop Mel Kids pakket voor 7-9-jarigen
Mijn oudste heeft van de leeftijd van 7 tot 9 de Mel Kids abonnement gehad en keek er telkens naar uit om het pakket elke maand te ontvangen. Aangezien we thuisonderwijs geven, vond ik dat de lessen een goede basis vormden om samen wetenschappelijke concepten te verkennen. Ik zou zeker aanraden om op zijn minst de lesboekjes samen met je kind te doen. Ook de online lessen zijn leuk en informatief. Mijn enige opmerking is dat de onderdelen van het pakket soms wat fragiel zijn. Meestal zijn ze behoorlijk stevig, dus het is niet vaak een probleem, maar we hebben wel eens een kapotte klep gehad (gelukkig makkelijk te vervangen) en één keer resulteerde de kracht die nodig was voor de montage in een gebroken plastic plaat. In beide gevallen waren de pakketten nog steeds bruikbaar en hebben we echt genoten van de kits.
Thoughtful kits offer fun ways to learn!
These thoughtful kits offer short hands-on experiences for students. As a previous science teacher, I am impressed with the ease of use and quality of equipment for the monthly fee. If I were still in the classroom, I would definitely use these as classroom demos to aid learning. At home, my 10 yr old LOVES these. The kits have been a fun way to supplement homeschooling science lessons. It’s nice the kits always provide extra materials to repeat each activity, or as backup if 1st try did not work. Also worth mentioning one kit arrived damaged, and MEL Science immediately sent out a replacement. Customer service responded to emails same day and even followed-up to ensure satisfaction.
Great for my 7-9yo
My eldest did Mel Kids from 7y through 9y, and looked forward to receiving the kit every month. We home school, and i found the lessons a good base on which to explore science concepts together. Seriously recommend doing at least the lesson booklets together with you child. Online lessons are also enjoyable and informative. My one criticism is that the parts that make up the kit are occasionally fraglie. Usually they're pretty robust so it's not a regular issue, but once we had a broken valve (easy to pick up replacement) and once the force needed for assembly resulted in a broken plastic plate. The kits in both cases were still useable, and overall we thoroughly enjoyed the kits.
Homeschool science kit
De homeschool wetenschap kit was een leuke toevoeging aan ons leerplan. Het bevatte alles wat we nodig hadden en de instructiekaarten waren meestal duidelijk, hoewel we wel enkele kleine problemen hebben ondervonden zoals een defecte connector en een lekkende fles. Na een paar jaar hebben we besloten om het programma stop te zetten omdat mijn dochter niet zo veel interesse toonde, waardoor ongebruikte kits zich begonnen op te stapelen. We gebruiken ze nog steeds af en toe, maar het ziet ernaar uit dat onze achterstand ons nog wel even bezig zal houden.
Scam - they will not let you cancel
Same experience as others: once you subscribe, it’s impossible to unsuscribe. They state that “the site is under maintenance” on purpose. It is a SCAM. I have been trying to cancel for the last 3 days, and it’s impossible. They make it impossible on purpose to steal your money.
Science kits that are fun and actually work.
We have had a Mel science and Mel science kids subscription for a few years now whilst home educating my eldest boy. ( From aged 8-11 years). We have looked forward to a very much enjoyed the experiments and STEM kits. He is is dyslexic and found he was able to follow the clear pictorial instructions on the kids ones really well with little intervention. The app worked well for the experiment ones too. Although, more pictures would have been appreciated. The kits are quite pricey but they did all work. I’ve tried other similar kits that often showed promise but were disappointing. The MEL science kits were worth the money for our purpose. We would and do recommend.
Great value: Hours of fun/engaged learning
We’ve been subscribed to Mel Chemistry for a couple years now and our 12 year old daughter absolutely loves it!! It’s a great value, especially because it includes EVERYTHING you need, including a tonne of stuff to get you started, the coolest, complete experiment kits with many things you can’t just get at the store, extras (to repeat the experiment) and lots of resources to keep your kid engaged in learning. The instructions are detailed and easy to read and the videos are a great additional resource. The Mel chemistry subscription is a great value for any child (or adult!) looking to learn more about chemistry- highly recommend!
WONDERFUL science kits!!
My children, now 13 and 11 have been receiving MEL Science kits every month for nearly 2 years. They LOVE these kits! Not only does it keep them occupied for hours, but the whole family learns so much through the process of each experiment. Before discovering MEL science, I used to try sourcing all the bits and pieces, chemicals etc for all the experiments my children wanted to do. I found it SO worth it to purchase these kits that come with great quality tools, and EVERYTHING the students need to complete each experiment. This is a very well thought out product, and well priced for all that is received each month.
Is practical and useful for homeschool.
I feel that mel science is a great way to incorporate real science into homeschool, you get a great package all around, with the lessons and the explanation is as close as having a science lab you can get at home. Also is very convenient and practical to have everything you need for the class. I feel that they are fair price for what they offer. If you and your family truly love science you will see that their subscription price is not only the items that you received is also a valuable experience of teacher to help explain and show the whole story. For me I took that under consideration when I signed up .

My family has enjoyed these unique kits, it has increased their interest in science. I suggest that parents support the children because some of the explanations are hard for kids to follow. The customer service has been great.
leuke, boeiende wetenschapssets
Ik hou echt van de wetenschapssets die ik bij jullie heb gekocht! Ze zijn leuk, interessant, en mijn zoon kan ze alleen doen met maar een klein beetje hulp van mij! En het beste is dat er verschillende dozen beschikbaar zijn, en de klantenservice is top. Het hele idee achter dit product is geweldig! Ik zou zeker aanraden om de wetenschapssets eens uit te proberen voor je kinderen. Zodra mijn zoon zijn eerste doos had afgewerkt, vroeg hij meteen om een nieuwe!

Please approach this company with caution. I wanted to unsuscribe/pause subscription, but when I went into my account the section for account controls was in maintenance, this was November 2023. I e ded up having to go through my bank as a dispute to block payments, I had to be issued new card details and a new card just to block melscience from future payments... fast forward to today, January 11th 2024 and low and behold a melscience payment leaves my account... but not entirely sure how they managed to steal my money... because that's what they did, they do not have access to my a bank due to new banking details and they pulled it off.... dumbfounded I went to my melscience account( because I have absolutely zero access to delete anything to do with melscience, like a child on parental locks on their tablet. Abolsutely shocking how they treat customers as children and do not give you access to pause or unsubscribe due to the account section always being in maintenance. The kits are probably worth £10-15 at most and nowhere near £34-35 price mark. Due to my issue of them finding a way to steal from me I am now taking this to trading standards as well as my bank (AGAIN) REGARDS STILL A VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER WHO SHOULD HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER IN 2024
Very disappointing
I ordered a kit for my daughter and received the gyroscope. The 'science' didn't feel particularly well explained, and I felt the AR element was a bit gimmicky rather than educational. The kit was quickly assembled but due to poor quality materials, broke the first time we tried to change the discs (as per the instructions). Saw another reviewer here had a similar experience so this doesn't feel like an isolated incident. I informed support of this issue over a month ago and still have not received a response.
STEM-wetenschapskits voor kinderen
Ik heb STEM-wetenschapskits besteld voor de kinderen en ik was echt blij verrast. De experimenten waren leerzaam en leuk, en het feit dat ze gebaseerd waren op echte wetenschappelijke toepassingen maakte het nog boeiender. Ik was een beetje bezorgd over de verzending, nadat ik enkele reviews had gelezen over vertragingen, maar gelukkig kwam mijn bestelling snel en op tijd aan. Dit was echt een fantastische manier om de kinderen wat extra STEM-ervaring te geven, zeker in een jaar waarin ze op school niet zoveel hebben gekregen als normaal.
Aanmelden voor wetenschappelijke experimenten
Ik kan echt niet genoeg benadrukken hoe geweldig de deals van dit bedrijf zijn. Mijn zoon krijgt een veel interessanter wetenschapslab dan ik vroeger had. Hij kijkt er altijd naar uit om zijn doos in de post te krijgen en is gemotiveerd om de concepten te begrijpen. Ik denk dat deze abonnementsdienst echt een game changer is voor hem op school, vooral omdat hij zo verlegen is en geen zelfvertrouwen heeft in een groep. Als verpleegkundige begrijp ik hoe belangrijk het is om wetenschap naar de gemeenschap te brengen.
Unieke experimenten, verhoogde interesse in wetenschap
Mijn familie vond deze experimenten echt super tof. Ze hebben hun nieuwsgierigheid naar wetenschap aangewakkerd en ze hebben enorm genoten van het uitvoeren ervan. Ik vind het een aanrader voor ouders om hun kinderen hierin te steunen, omdat sommige uitleg wel wat lastig kan zijn voor kinderen om helemaal te vatten.

Dit is echt een aanrader! De klantenservice is top, ze ondersteunen hun producten helemaal - snel antwoord en vervangende onderdelen of dozen indien nodig. Mijn kinderen kunnen niet wachten om de dozen open te scheuren zodra ze binnenkomen - soms wordt het leven gewoon te druk. Ideaal voor thuisonderwijs. Mijn zoon is dol op de interactieve app. Mijn dochter heeft geen interesse in de app, maar vindt de makkelijk te volgen instructies geweldig. Geen teleurgestelde kinderen hier! Er zijn verschillende niveaus van vaardigheden en interesses. Het is geweldig om hun interesse te wekken.
Science experiment sets
Ik was eerst boos door de extra kosten bij de levering, had dat helemaal niet verwacht. Het leek wel alsof ik beetgenomen werd. Gelukkig heeft George positief gereageerd en heeft mij verzekerd dat het probleem zal worden opgelost zonder extra verzendkosten. Ik ben hem enorm dankbaar voor zijn hulp en verduidelijking.
