I hope this will reassure others
I hope this will reassure others. I (needlessly) found the remortgage process all very stressful, not least because of a lot of the reviews about Optima Legal on various sites, and hopefully this will give you some peace of mind. We managed the portal okay, but were initially very unclear about who at the company was actually dealing with our remortgage, as like others, we spoke to a different person each time we rang. I had asked about their qualifications, and had been worried when they confirmed they had no formal legal qualifications, but had received in house training. They confirmed there were obviously qualified solicitors at the company. Just over a week before our expected completion date, getting nervous, I rang and asked to speak to either a solicitor or our dedicated case worker. I managed to speak to our case worker. We were reducing our mortgage considerably, so there was a significant shortfall that we needed to pay directly to Optima. After reading some of the reviews, I had sleepless nights at the thoughts of transferring hundreds of thousands to them, and wished we’d chosen to use our own solicitors. But after expressing our concerns (and to be fair, our case worker also gave us the option of paying the shortfall directly to our former provider, but it would have meant waiting for them to get another completion statement after doing this and moving onto the default higher rate until it cleared), a solicitor at Optima very helpfully provided us with written details about how they were regulated, how our money was protected, and even offered to speak to my husband, which he did. Our case worker was not working in the day of completion, but she copied in her colleague who she was passing it to, and we were kept right up to date confirming when they had the funds from the new lender. As promised, they contacted us as soon as they received our funds which was also very reassuring. We had a text confirming completion before 10am on the planned day. They even checked we had received the email confirmation. I can’t fault the service we received, but I’m dropping a star because it would have been a lot less stressful if we had received some contact from our actual case worker from the start. Emma, who completed the mortgage, was absolutely fantastic with prompt and clear communication throughout. Our case worker, Georgia was also equally helpful and responsive. Big thanks to Richard who took the time to speak to us, and obviously does a great job overseeing it all. I can’t speak for others, but for us, there was absolutely no reason to have been worried and it’s only fair to say, we would not hesitate to use them again.

Easy and friendly; amazing!
Gosh, I have been blown away by the people and process at Optima. We were able to access the portal any time of the day or night to down load or upload paperwork and view the progress of our remortgage. The dashboard made it easy, once you found your way around, to see what was outstanding and what had been completed in preparation for completion. I had to call a few times and each time spoke to really lovely and helpful staff who I always ended up having a giggle with, due to some menopausal thing I had done or failed to do. I was always treated with respect and a great sense of humour and never once felt I was out of my depth with legal jargon. Each step was explained either on the portal or by a kind member of staff at every turn until we were done. I was even ahead at one point and waiting for my building society to add their bits! Couldn’t fault them and would definitely use them again. Not having to do it all between 9 and 5 made the whole experience so much easier for us. Thank you all. Amazing.

Extremely efficient and portal which is…
Extremely efficient and portal which is an industry changer. Optima looked after our remortgage, the file was passed over and the portal gave clear instructions as to what we had to do. Early this week Helen called to discuss completion which I was taken aback as to how quick they processed as I was expecting 4-6 weeks. Helen meticulously picked up on a documentation error sent from the mortgage company and she quickly rectified it. We completed today 2-3 weeks after they got the file. Thank you Helen. Seamless Journey
The whole journey was seamless so overall I'm happy with the service. My only gripe is more so with solicitors in general who in my opinion charge more than they should. I think £294 for a transfer of title is ridiculous.

BTL remortgage
Following an initial good start to my BTL remortgage - the responses to some online portal updates was not efficient- this resulted in my completion being delayed from 1/5/24 to 10/5/24 which meant that I absorbed the svr rate for 10 days - a tad disappointing as the other 22 remortgaged done with other online conveyancers was absolutely fine
